Can anyone help me find these cherished music covers from Tara MacLean? I will pay for them if anyone is able to find them. She sang them at some point in her career, but I just cannot find any evidence. Please reply... The covers are as follows:
* At Seventeen by Janis Ian <I have this one> * Pacing the Cage by Bruce Cockburn * Dimming Of The Day by Richard Thompson * Unloved by Jann Arden * Set The Prairie On Fire by Shawn Colvin * Calling You (Baghdad Cafe)
By the way, has anyone heard her solo on the Paul Schwartz album 2002 "Earthbound"? This doesn't seem to be listed on her lyrics or discography on her site. Check it out... I have it. Does anyone else know others that aren't listed?
Oh how I wish I could see her in concert someday!

First of all, the discography on the official website is not complete. It only represents her major commercial releases. The discography at www.smoe.org/tara/discography/index.htm is much better, but even that one is missing a few things. Regarding the songs you mention, Pacing the Cage was written expressly for the movie of the same name, and the director owns the masters. It's not likely to turn up anywhere based on the emails I got from him. The other four were all never released, and were only played live. There are recordings out there with all of these songs. Dimming of the Day is probably the easiest to find, having appeared on a JamTV webcast. Last time I looked, it was still available for streaming, but you'll have to find out the company that bought JamTV (it's been awhile since I looked). I'm pretty sure there are a few other covers that have been performed here and there. Also, since you've never seen Tara live, there are a few other songs out there never recorded. Painkiller, Ocean, ...I'm drawing a blank. From her early career, several of the unrecorded songs eventually made their way onto Passenger. Ah, yes... The Trouble with Me is another. I should probably make a list someday as it's not posted anywhere online and I forget over time. Oh yeah, one last cover: I believe Tara sang a lyric in "What's Goin' On" at the LA Lilith back in 98 or 99.

I should probably make a list someday as it's not posted anywhere online and I forget over time. Ooh - please do! I'd be interested in reading that. I'd like to hear some of these covers, and possibly what CD they might be on... (I have checked out the "Love and Light fan site" but as you said, it's missing a few) Edit: iTunes has Tara's version of "Earthbound" in case anyone's interested... *goes to buy it* ;D

I accidentally came across this website that has mp3 tracks of Tara singing: At Seventeen (#285) Calls To Nothing (#234) Better Things (live) (#67) You (#153) Divided (a sort of dance re-mix - really weird!) (#108) And a live concert from I'm not sure where.. I think San Francisco? Features acoustic versions of Evidence, That's Me, Passenger, Red, If I Fall, Dry Land, Child (about half way through), Jordan, Higher, Divided, Silence, and Dimming of the Day (last song), as well as some talk between the songs (lots of giggling, lol). Its a very good quality concert recording, I highly recommend it! (#154) cvie.free.fr/blog/share/related/rss2html.php

I found "Dimming of the Day" a long time ago, but it ends about halfway through. Hope I can split up the live mp3 linked above. I haven't been able to find any of the others. Any pointers? ETA: Bummer, the live mp3 skips right in the middle of "Dimming of the Day". Oh well, better than nothing. Thanks.

FYI - The live MP3 on that site was recorded at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco, CA, back in 2000. At least one site online says it was 2001, but I seem to recall 2000 - I was there. If I find anything that says it was 2001, I'll make a correction.

I'm very interested jeanette! Please, get back to me if you can. I need all the help I can get. Also, let me know if you need anything. Anyway, hey all, I'm sorry for getting back to all of you so late. I really appreciate everyone's input and I hope to someday meet anyone and everyone that helps me find recordings of Tara's covers. It's hard to find good people that help each other out anymore. I hope to return the favor someday.
