I asked the woman who was making people sign the waivers, and she said pretty much the same thing about the documentary, that it is supposed to be aired in Feb and released in May.

It's been pretty quiet regarding the release of this cd.
With exactly one month before the official release date of the cd (Feb 6), you would think the record company and their pr firm would start the ball rolling by getting a new single or video to the tv and radio stations, and getting a small pre-tour together.
With several new cds coming out the same day, most notably Jann Arden's new cd and a live concert from Barbra Steisand, I have a feeling the new Shaye cd will get lost in the shuffle.
Plus having the cd available online several months before the cd release can't have help the cd much.
Hopefully with the Global special, and their appearance at the Winterfest in Toronto on Feb 3rd, it will generate some buzz for the cd and the band.
I just hope the record studio doesn't push back the release date again, to coincide with the dvd release of the documentary, or all together cancel the release of the cd.

I agree with you 100% on all of the above. Did we even ever get a video for Lake of Fire?
I hope the next single, whatever it may be, if it ever exists, is one of the stronger more radio-friendly songs... We Will Not Be Lovers comes to mind, even Star would work for a lighter radio market. I get the impression that the record company situation is pretty muddled for the three of them right now. I'm not sure what their record contract statusses are, but I would hope for their sake that they go indie for the next album, or at least for their solo albums.
I really hope to get a hard copy of the CD, at the very least. I bought the songs online, so I'm not worried about losing the music, but it's nice to have a hard CD. Oh well, here's hoping.

^ Wow, as if by magic, Dav's appearance on CHUM today determines that You're Not Alone is the new single. Not a bad choice I guess.

Just got this from EMI.
Close friends and members of Shaye, Kim Stockwood, Damhnait Doyle and Tara MacLean are known for their gorgeous vocal blend and outgoing personalities. What some people may not realize is that these women face the same everyday challenges all women face - motherhood, balancing their personal lives and careers - all while striving to realize their dream. Now fans will have greater insight to their world as they share their lives on and off stage with the cameras rolling. Leading Canadian production company, Breakthrough Films & Television, has officially started production on its newest factual programming project, Shaye.
Set for a Canadian broadcast premiere on CH Television, followed by a run on Global Television and Country Music Television (CMT), the new documentary series follows this female musical trio on the road to stardom. chronicles the behind-the-scenes journey as the girls take another step towards fame and fortune when they release their new record, Lake of Fire on February 6, 2007.
“Shaye is a welcome addition to our growing catalogue of factual programming and is certain to attract a strong and loyal audience as it reveals the real world struggles of attaining superstardom in the world of music,” said Ira Levy, Executive Producer.
"Shaye will afford our viewers a rare, inside look at the journey of an accomplished, Juno award-nominated Canadian musical group," said Christine Shipton, Vice President of Original Programming for CanWest MediaWorks. "We love this series because it features more than just music from a talented trio of women. It gets to the heart of what it takes to make it in the music industry both personally and professionally."
Both the show and the new album offer old and new fans quite the revealing side to Shaye. The three co-wrote most of Lake of Fire and just like them it runs the gamut of emotions and is always honest and real. Their signature harmonies and sense of melody are better than ever, especially on the new single "You're Not Alone," which is quickly making its way onto major Hot AC and CHR Radio stations across the country, and on first single "Lake of Fire" which is continuing strong at AC Radio.
On the new CD, Kim, Damhnait and Tara even tackle topics such as the environment, in the song "This is the Moment," a cause that they fully united on even with their different politics and cause affiliations. Further demonstrating their concern for the future of the world we all live in, the girls and EMI Music Canada worked with the organization Zero Footprint to create packaging for Lake of Fire made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper and to 'zero footprint' the CD - paying to replace the resources used in production (energy, paper, water, etc.) - the money will be used to plant trees in any community of Shaye's choice that has an FSC-certified forest.
Considering the personalities of the three women in Shaye and the energy of the new album - it is safe to expect lots of fun, humour, strength, courage, tears and emotion on this new television program. In the meantime, Shaye will be doing extensive promotion in February, along with a free show at Nathan Phillips Square (as part of Winter City Festival) on February 3 and a live performance on Canada AM on February 5. You can also catch them performing on the ECMAs on February 18 (airing on CBC Television at 8:00 p.m. all time zones except/8:30 p.m. in Nfld.) and doing a concert at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on March 30

Oh man, that is so very cool that it's going to be on CH... since I don't have cable and that's my local tv station for Hamilton....but also very bad because now i'm hoping i'm not in it anywhere. I know I probably looked dork in it... and if friends and family see that... LOL!

"This year is the make-or-break moment for this band," says manager Sheri Jones."
How ominous. I've seen and heard bits and piece from each of them (in particular an interview Tara linked on her website) about this potentially being the last album for the band... perhaps the success of it will determine their future together?

I think the group Shaye was started as an outlet for a group of friends to honour the memory of their good friend and sister, sing some songs and enjoy the good times, and whatever success they had along the way was a bonus.
With both Dav and Tara having solo cd readied to be released, the more work they put into Shaye, the further pushed back their own cds will be.
I don't think the air date for the show is anytime soon. If I recall correctly, it will be shown in April, which is a shame, considering the cd gets "released" next Tuesday.
Hopefully on Canada Am, Seamus O'Regan won't be the typical doofus he is on air when Shaye perform.
