So... to my complete surprise... Tara has left the band!!!! I guess they must have just decided to finish up the tour they had before really putting it into effect. I'm really saddened to hear it... But I can see the reasoning behind it. Still processing it all!!
I'm curious to see what they choose to do going forward, whether they will replace her or give up altogether. My heart's with them!!

I'm curious to see who will be taking Tara's place -- or if Tara will continue in the gigs they're committed to and they'll figure the rest out later.

I'm not surprised.... She's got a pretty large family now and a new child soon... I hope "Shaye" still stick together though. I think they could get a new singer or Kim and Dav just cover Tara's parts.

I'll just post it here... I'm sad that I'm missing their first concert without her (though I can proudly say I attended their last concert ever WITH Tara!!)

Well she says that the band is "changing shape" not "over" ... I guess we can hope that it turns out well... as I said on the official board, I support them continuing on, but would rather the two of them call it quits altogether than attempt to salvage something that won't shine in the way the band has to date.

I think they'll still be alright. It's just finding a new person or them taking over Tara's parts in old songs. The thing though is that the band's name "Shaye" was Tara's sister... so it's going to be weird for them to tell the story behind it.

^ Perhaps this will give them an opportunity to move past the band's name. I think it's wonderful that they are a tribute to Shaye's name, and that they've spent the last 5 years doing wonderful things (such as charity work, etc) in her name - but it's hard to succeed as a band if that's your only trick. Perhaps Kim and Dav may take this opportunity to change the direction of the band musically, or lyrically, or otherwise. Frankly though, I don't know what to expect. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

The thing though is that the band's name "Shaye" was Tara's sister... so it's going to be weird for them to tell the story behind it. The name of the band has always had double meanings, as both Tara's sister and as the Gaelic word for "strength." I personally don't think it was ever intended to be a "trick" but a way for all of them to pay tribute to someone they all knew and loved. As I recall, Tara had to be convinced to use the name. In any event, I don't think the band will be the same without Tara. I think it will do quite fine being "different" with another member, but that's ok. I'm just glad that I got to see the girls perform a few times.
