Just got in from the concert - the first of theirs that I've seen without Tara.
The show itself was good -- the usual band but Bill Bell was on lead guitars this time, in what one would expect to be an awkward twist but turned out to be quite normal. They avoided the songs that were specifically about Shaye, or that required a lot of Tara's voice, but there was still a little awkwardness in a couple of the songs (the chorus on Stay came off a little funny). Other than that though, it was business as usual, complete with a brand new set of hilarious and interesting anecdotes and stories. They did a bunch of songs from each album, plus more solo songs than usual (Dav did Gimme Gimme from her new album as well as California, Kim did a 15-minute long version of Jerk!). Blake's been working on his voice since quitting smoking and filled in on most of the vocal parts.
They came out to sign/chat/photograph after the show as well, it was nice to chat again. I got some info on what's going on with Dav's album (I'll post in the other forum), but as far as Shaye goes, they've only got a couple dates booked right now -- one private show, and the show at the Gladstone for Canadian Music Week. I think the exact words Kim used were "we're trying to figure out right now what we're going to do," which was in the context of someone's question about future concerts but I wonder about what that may mean. Either way, it sounded like Dav will be touring in support of Lights Down Low in the near future, which is exciting on its own!
All around great show, great to see them again!
