So the official site has been updated (a couple times since October, actually) to officially announce Tara's departure from the band, as well as Kim's tour plans and Dav's album recording. And most exciting, after the disappointing ECMA news last year, Lake of Fire was nominated for TWO East Coast Music Awards this year!!! Pop Recording of the Year and Single of the Year. Very exciting! EDIT: forgot to add -- there are a bunch of new photos of just Kim and Dav posted on the site too... looks like they're pretty serious about continuing the band without Tara. Hopefully all works out!

Wow! That's not ironic at all.... when they were at their best, they got nothing, and now that they've split - two nominations? Good for them anyways! I'm glad Kim and Dav still want to continue on. According to the ECMA website, Dav is going to be performing in the Songwriter's Circle: www.ecma.ca/s_277.asp In her bio it mentions her 'latest release' being "Lights Down Low" - does anyone know if it's actually been released yet? I've read mention of it, but so far haven't found anywhere I can buy it.

So, sadly, they didn't win either of their awards ... and of course the entire show was overshadowed by the Grammys the exact same evening. Two Hours Traffic's "Little Jabs" won Pop Recording, and Joel Plaskett Emergency's "Fashionable People" won for Single of the Year.
Dav's new album comes out to iTunes tomorrow though!

Hmmm.. yes, that was kind of disappointing. Although apparently, there's supposed to be a one hour summary of the ECMA's hosted by Steven Page on March 2, I think. I know he was at the Songwriter's Circle, so there'll probably be footage of Dav there. The ECMA official site has now posted up photos from the weekend. www.orderphotos.ca/socan/event.asp?Event_ID=134Dav is in a lot for the Songwriter's Circle as well as 20th Anniversary Concert. I'm assuming Kim didn't attend?

Just to update on the ECMA broadcast - it's this Sunday at 7pm, and there's going to be additional footage posted on the CBC partner site (http://www.cbc.ca/eastcoastmusic/index.html) throughout the upcoming weeks. Damhnait is listed for appearing in an interview about "what it's like to be writing music in the age of downloading". Interesting There's also been some coverage on radio which I managed to catch last minute. If anyone wants Dav singing live versions of Love Will Tear Us Apart, Gimmie Gimmie, Is This Love (with David Myles), Essence, and More Than This, just let me know and I'll try to get the whole performance uploaded (complete with hilarious commentary).

^ ooh, that sounds interesting! What radio was it on? CBC, that is radio one, I believe, broadcasted it nationally on Canada Live, and just to Atlantic Canada (but you could catch it online) on a program called "Swift". I put both performances into a zip file which you can download here: www.mediafire.com/?mb5ud71zhm1Enjoy

Wow, thank you! That's a bit of an unusual piece for them to cover, but they do it so well! Where did you come across the recording?
