I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this, so I'm wondering if anyone else out there has heard anything about this. On the HMV site (amazon) there is a new entry under Damhnait Doyle. It's a paperback novel called "Miscellaneous Female", Author: Doyle, Damhnait. Further searching on google discovered one relative result that says it was published in Toronto, and the official title is: "Miscellaneous Female: the Journals of Damhnait Doyle". ;D The tentative release date is October 10th, 2005, and if you buy from Amazon, the price is $17.56. On the only other site I could find, it says the price is $21.95. Either way, judging by her entries on her site, it definately promises to be an interesting read. I'd put my order in now, but as there's been nothing on her site, I guess I'll just have to wait....

Ah-ha! I knew I'd read it somewhere. So this may be proof to my random weird discovery... I had remembered reading this in one of Dav's journal entries on her site a long time ago, and not quite understanding what she meant by it, but now it seems to all fit. I'll quote from August 21, 2003 : "highlights from my book in progress.... We played Massey Hall, Kevin Fox and myself opening for Tom Cochrane May 10th...Wanted to write after that show but found myself confronted with stablishing new goals. It has always been a dream to play Massey Hall and it was better then I had hoped by miles!!!! I actually think it was the best time I have ever had on stage and I must admit it's hard to keep going when for a moment you believe the best is behind you!! Finished the trio record during time off in June and July....." Well thats somewhat of a proof that I'm only half crazy...

yay i just pre-ordered it too! soooo this means that while shaye has had some supposed "down time" after touring and finishing up their new album, let's see, dav has been finishing up a book, kim is becoming a mommy of two, and tara has been working on her own new album stuff. yippie! now if only tara wrote a book too...or put together a published version of her online diary/journal....although its old....her writing is, wow....has always moved me, even more so then lyrics.

They recently added a description to this page:
Book Description Through sleepless ramblings and observations from Newfoundland singer-songwriter Damhnait Doyle, these journals cover her travels from Afghanistan to Japan and all over Canada on tour both solo and with her Shaye bandmates, Kim Stockwood and Tara Maclean. Sharing insights into the highs and lows of juggling a band and a solo career, and whether she¹s talking about Advil or karma, bikes or Canadian troops in Kabul, Damhnait Doyle¹s style is engaging and uniquely personal. The title of this book was found on the door of a dressing room at the 2005 Canadian Songwriter¹s Hall of Fame event. The room housed Buffy St. Marie, Loreena McKennit, and many other notable female musicians, and Damhnait Doyle¹s initial reaction was ³ŒMiscellaneous females¹ they are not.² But upon reflection, she realized that, as writers, she and these other women were speaking for all women who do not have a public voice. On stage, Damhnait Doyle¹s high-energy style and low-fi approach blend perfectly to produce powerhouse solo performances. Her live album, dav-net, won her two 2004 East Coast Music Awards, for Female and Pop/Rock Recording of the Year. Shaye released their first recording the bridge in 2003, and their first single, ³Happy Baby², instantly shot to the top of the acoustic charts, earning a Juno nomination for Best Single of the Year. The follow-up single ³Beauty² also hit the Top 20. Shaye has toured Canada extensively, sharing the stage as special guests with such artists as Nelly Furtado, Dido, and Jann Arden.

Oh WOW! That just made my day! I did some further searching after, and I found the website for the company that is publishing the book. It has a picture of the cover of the book, in addition to the description. www.insomniacpress.com/title.php?id=1-897178-01-8All in all, it sounds like a very intriguing novel - I can't wait to pick it up. This makes me wonder.... why hasn't Dav's website picked up on this info yet?

Who knows! They also don't seem to have noticed the tons of spam that's happened! :S
EDIT: That link has a link to "Buy This Book!" ... does this mean it's already available?

Yeah, I tried the order form on the site too, but I didn't go through with it either. Its kinda weird that they don't have the release date posted, as its the publishers site.... I phoned a bunch of places and all I got was that copies were on backorder for October, so I suppose the 10th is the day. However, the concert may have some... let me know if they do?
And the spam thats been going on there, I agree, is SO annoying... I can't believe the moderator hasn't noticed it - what's the point of one if they don't delete stuff like that!
